It's About to Get Really F-ing Hot in Beijing
By Justine Lopez
We hate to break it to you but summer is coming really early this year. As in it’s going to be 34C (93F) in Beijing on Saturday.
This is the first time this century that Beijing has recorded temperatures this high in April. To put it in perspective, the last time the capital experienced heat like this was last August.
Beijingers started feeling the heat on Thursday, when a warming trend hit the capital. Temperatures are expected to spike to 32C today and will hit a whopping 34C on Saturday, according to AccuWeather.
“It will feel more like summer in Beijing and northeastern China, as the normal high this time of year is around 23C (73F),” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Jason Nicholls said.
LIke we said, this is the first time in the past 100 years that the capital has seen temperatures this high in the month of April. Although in April 1993, Beijing did experience a high of 32.2C.
Basically Saturday’s high is going to be one for the books.

The good news is that Beijing won’t experience high humidity during this heat wave, which will keep that “feels like” temperature down. A slight breeze should also help cool things down a bit. A cold front is expected to hit the capital on Sunday and will bring temperatures in the region down to around 30C.
There’s no doubt things have gotten hot fast in Beijing this month. Temperatures even spiked to 31C mid-month. All in all, this April has been much hotter than usual.
Perhaps the heat is a good excuse to have the best pool day ever tomorrow. Just saying.
